Can pessaries be uncomfortable or painful?
- A properly fitted pessary does not cause pain or discomfort.
- You should be able to perform your normal daily activities with- out any difficulty.
- If the pessary moves out of place do not panic. Clean your hands with soap and water. Sit down and push the pessary as far as possible. It is not possible to lose your pessary into the abdomen.
- Sometimes pessaries can irritate the internal walls that may cause discharge or bleeding. Call your doctor if you notice bleeding or discharge.
How to clean Bioteque America Ring Flexible Pessary?
It is recommended that you remove the pessary daily to clean it using a mild soap and water. However, if you have difficulty removing your pessary, contact your healthcare professional and make an appointment for removal and cleansing. A pessary, however, can stay in place for 4-12 weeks.
