Hydrophilic Coating of SpeediCath Catheters

The patented hydrophilic coating makes sure that the catheter is ready to use right after the packaging is removed. There is no need for adding lubrication or water. The hydrophilic coating of Coloplast urinary catheters consists of three elements:

• Base coating: The base coating helps in keeping the coating uniform and evenly distributed during catheterization and prevents the top coating from rubbing off.
• Top coating: The top coating offers the optimal level of water absorption, making the surface smooth and reducing friction.
• Saline solution: Coloplast catheters come packaged in a saline solution. This solution ensures that the coating will remain optimally hydrated and make them instantly ready to use.
