How to use ConvaTec GentleCath Intermittent Urinary Catheter?

1. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.
2. Withdraw the foreskin and wash the penis with soap and water. (Figure 2) 3. Peel open the package.
3. Lubricate the catheter with water-soluble lubricant.
4. Take the pre-lubricated catheter out from the package.
5. Choose the position that is most comfortable.
6. Hold penis up toward your stomach. Do not squeeze penis, as this can block the opening.
7. Straight Tip: Slide catheter slowly into the opening of urethra and into bladder until urine starts to flow.
8. Coude Tip: Keep the angled tip facing the front of you e.g. towards the ceiling, slide catheter slowly into the opening of urethra and into bladder until urine starts to flow.
9. Point penis and the funnel end of the catheter down towards container.
10. When the urine starts to flow, push the catheter in one or two cm to make sure that it is fully inside the bladder.
11. To make sure bladder is emptied completely, remove the catheter slowly and stop if more urine starts to flow.
12. When the bladder is empty, hold penis up toward stomach again and withdraw the catheter slowly. If uncircumsized, pull foreskin forward.
13. Discard catheter after use.
14. Wash hands.
